Spider-Man: Brand New Day releases in Indian cinemas on July 30, a day ahead of its global theatrical release on July 31.
The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and runs for approximately 144 minutes, and is being released in India in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker and Spider-Man, joined by Zendaya as MJ and Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, alongside Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, Mark Ruffalo, Sadie Sink, Tramell Tillman and Michael Mando.
Set four years after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the story follows Peter Parker living in a world where no one remembers him, as he balances protecting New York City with a mysterious physical transformation he is undergoing.
The film’s official trailer was released on April 1, showing Peter reconnecting with MJ and Ned while navigating his encounter with Frank Castle and the changes affecting him.
India’s Central Board of Film Certification has given the film a UA 13+ rating, after ordering the removal of a kissing scene and some strong language, along with a mandated on-screen alcohol warning.
The film is produced by Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios in association with Pascal Pictures, continuing the joint Sony-Marvel arrangement for the character.
Audiences in India can watch the film in cinemas from its release day, with ticket bookings already open through major cinema chains and online ticketing platforms.
The franchise’s previous instalment, Spider-Man: No Way Home, grossed $1.92 billion worldwide in 2021, making it the highest-grossing Spider-Man film to date and the only pandemic-era release to cross $1 billion globally.
The film continues Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios’ joint arrangement for the Spider-Man franchise, which has combined Marvel’s creative oversight with Sony’s distribution of the character’s solo films.
Tom Holland first played Peter Parker in a small role in Captain America: Civil War in 2016, before headlining his own trilogy of Spider-Man solo films and appearing in multiple Avengers ensemble movies.
