Mirzapur: The Movie opens to Rs 25.15 crore, 4th biggest 2026 opener

Mirzapur: The Movie collected Rs 25.15 crore net in India on its opening day, September 4, becoming the fourth-biggest Hindi opener of 2026.

The film’s theatrical occupancy stood at 42.81% on its first day, a strong showing for the franchise’s big-screen debut.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh said the response reflected the strength of the franchise’s fan base, calling it a clear sign of loyal viewers turning up in full strength.

The opening places Mirzapur behind Dhurandhar 2 (around Rs 99 crore), Toxic (around Rs 55 crore) and Border 2 (Rs 30 crore) among 2026’s biggest debuts.

The film’s run was also helped by the Janmashtami holiday and a weak second Friday for rival release Toxic, which managed just Rs 1.75 crore.

The film’s opening places it fourth among 2026’s biggest openers, behind Dhurandhar 2 at roughly Rs 99 crore, Toxic at roughly Rs 55 crore and Border 2 at Rs 30 crore.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh said the response reflected the strength of the Mirzapur franchise’s fan base, noting that loyal viewers had turned up in full strength for the theatrical debut.

The film also benefited from the Janmashtami holiday, which added to footfall on its opening day.

Rival release Toxic, now in its second week, managed just Rs 1.75 crore on its second Friday, giving Mirzapur a relatively clear run at screens and audiences.

The film’s theatrical occupancy stood at 42.81% on opening day, a solid figure for a Hindi-language release competing in a crowded late-2026 slate.

Mirzapur: The Movie marks one of the more high-profile attempts to convert a hit streaming franchise into a full theatrical release, following the show’s three successful seasons on Amazon Prime Video.

The film stars the franchise’s original ensemble, including Pankaj Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya, Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit and Divyenndu as Munna Bhaiya, alongside newer additions such as Ravi Kishan.
