The Jharkhand High Court on Tuesday questioned the pace of the CID investigation into the JSSC-CGL recruitment irregularities, with Justice Deepak Roshan’s bench asking the state government to provide a clear, time-bound update on the probe.
The government told the court that a report on the ongoing CID investigation’s progress would be submitted in a sealed cover, but its separate request for a week’s extension to file an affidavit detailing the probe’s status was rejected.
The bench directed the government to clarify its stand and submit a response within 48 hours, stressing that the matter concerns the futures of numerous candidates and could not be subjected to unnecessary delays.
The court’s interim stay on 99 appointees hired under Advertisement No. 10/2023 remains in effect, with the case scheduled for its next hearing on September 18.
The case stems from the state government’s August 17 cancellation of the JSSC-CGL exam and related recruitment advertisements, following weeks of student protests over alleged irregularities.

Senior advocate Meenakshi Arora is representing the Jharkhand government in the case.
The matter also covers cancelled recruitment advertisements for the JPSC, CDPO and Food Safety Officer examinations, affecting thousands of applicants beyond the JSSC-CGL candidates.
The original cancellation was announced by Chief Minister Hemant Soren on August 17, following a 24-day student protest over alleged recruitment irregularities.
The government simultaneously scrapped all examinations conducted by blacklisted agency TSR Data Processing Private Limited, widening the fallout beyond the CGL exam alone.
