Two suspected Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorists were killed in an overnight joint operation by the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF in the Brattal-Sohan and Khubban forest areas of Udhampur district.
The operation, code-named Operation Sohan, was launched during the intervening night of September 16 and 17 after security forces received confirmed inputs about terrorist presence in the general area of Brattal.
Contact with the terrorists was established late at night, with firing and blasts reported as troops targeted a suspected hideout despite hostile weather and difficult terrain.
Security forces recovered arms and ammunition from the site, and no casualties were reported among the personnel involved in the operation.
Search and surveillance operations remained ongoing at the time of reporting, with the identities of the slain terrorists still being ascertained.
