CBSE Class 12 supplementary practical exams begin today

CBSE Class 12 supplementary practical examinations for students in the compartment category began on Wednesday and will run through August 4.

The practicals are meant for students placed in the compartment category due to a Repeat Practical (RP) or Repeat Theory and Practical Both (RB) requirement in one or more subjects.

Students in the RP category, who failed only the practical component, need to appear solely for the practical exam, since their earlier theory marks will be carried forward.

Those in the RB category, who must clear both theory and practical components, are required to appear for both parts of the supplementary examination.

CBSE had asked all eligible students to contact their school or examination centre by July 27 with their result or marksheet copy and admit card to confirm their allotted date, time and venue.

Regular students will take the practical exams at their respective schools, while private candidates will appear at the centres assigned to them for the theory examination, with CBSE regional offices arranging alternate venues if laboratory facilities are unavailable.

External examiners for the practicals are appointed exclusively by CBSE regional offices, while schools appoint internal examiners from among their own teaching staff.

Practical marks must be uploaded on the same day as the examination and become final once submitted, with no scope for subsequent changes.

CBSE typically declares compartment results within three to four weeks of the exams, which would place this year’s result in the first half of August; once announced, it will be available on cbse.gov.in and DigiLocker, where students can check it using their roll number, school number, centre number and admit card ID.

The supplementary examination window gives compartment-category students a chance to clear pending subjects within the same academic year, rather than waiting for the next annual cycle.

CBSE typically finalises and uploads Class 12 supplementary results within a few weeks of the exams concluding, allowing eligible students to proceed with college admissions without a long delay.
