At an age when most children are still finding their footing in middle school, Abhiraj Shee has already published 36 books, set 12 World Records, and collected more than 600 awards. A Class 7 student of Delhi Public School Megacity, Kolkata, Abhiraj has become one of India’s most talked-about child achievers — a young author, record-holder, coder and Olympiad performer whose journey offers a window into what sustained, wide-ranging effort can look like in a child still in his early teens.
What sets Abhiraj apart is not a single standout talent but a pattern of achievement repeated across very different fields — literature, memory and recall, competitive examinations, coding, and the arts — each pursued with enough intensity to produce national and international recognition.
Perhaps the most distinctive part of Abhiraj’s profile is his literary output. He has written and published 36 books, a body of work that earned him the world record for the maximum number of books published by a kid. His titles include The Tale of Jaxon and Elara, Good Dream Bad Dream, My Trip to the Moon, My Poems of Love, and My Father My Inspiration — a range that moves between fiction, poetry and personal reflection.
At the National Young Authors Fair, described as the world’s largest book-writing competition for children and organised by BriBooks and Education World in partnership with the Times of India, NDTV, Disney International, Crosswords and AWS, Abhiraj has been declared a winning author in each of the last three years: 2023-24, 2024-25 and 2025-26. The scale of this competition is significant — the 2024-25 edition alone saw more than two lakh students participate from over 4,000 schools. Within that field, Abhiraj secured first place in India as a best-selling author in the Genre League in 2024-25, and went on to top the Pioneer League in 2025-26 while also placing third in the Best Seller League that year.
His literary recognition reached a peak at the 4th Kolkata Literary Carnival 2026, where he was named Child Author of the Year 2025-26 and received the Dickens Medal of Excellence as part of the 11th International Literary Awards 2025-26. He received this honour, along with other awards, from the CEO of BriBooks and Padma Shri awardee Ms Deepa Malik at a ceremony in Gurugram on 28 March 2026. BriBooks has separately honoured him with an Entrepreneur Author Award, and with Platinum, Gold and Silver Star medallions for several of his individual books.
Three of his titles — Good Dream Bad Dream, My Trip to the Moon, and The Tale of Jaxon and Elara — have been inducted into the BriBooks Global Hall of Fame, a recognition extended to a select set of books from more than 26 countries. My Trip to the Moon was chosen for the Brooklyn Book Festival, New York City’s largest literary festival, held on the New York University campus, while The Tale of Jaxon and Elara has been selected for translation into Malay, French and German. His work was also featured at the Delhi World Book Fair 2025-26.
Before his literary achievements took centre stage, Abhiraj first drew national attention through a series of memory and speed-based World Records. Certified across the India Book of Records, International Book of Records, Asia Book of Records and World Book of Records, London, his 12 records include reciting the entire periodic table in 42 seconds, identifying and reciting 100 phonetic words in 44 seconds, and spelling 100 English words — some with more than ten letters — in 2 minutes and 53 seconds.
One of his more demanding records involved answering 100 questions from different academic subjects in just 4 minutes and 30 seconds, a feat he first achieved at age six. His record for developing more than 130 computer apps and games in a short time frame, and a separate record for receiving the maximum number of trophies, medals and certificates in a short period, round out a set of achievements that reflect both raw recall ability and sustained output over time.
Notably, several of his records show a trajectory of self-improvement — his phonetic word recitation time fell from 1 minute 18 seconds in 2021-22 to 48 seconds in 2022-23, and finally to 44 seconds, a mark that has now been certified by two separate record-keeping bodies.
Alongside his literary and record-breaking pursuits, Abhiraj has built a substantial portfolio in technology. He has developed more than 150 computer applications and games addressing education, health, exercise and quizzes, hosted via code.org given app-store licensing constraints for young developers. This body of work contributed to one of his certified world records.
He has also competed in some of the largest coding competitions open to children. In the iCode Global Hackathon — which drew more than 30 lakh participants from over 75 countries in 2024-25 — Abhiraj placed first in Eastern India at the Zonal Final, tenth in Asia at the Asian Final, and twentieth globally at the Global Final. In the previous year’s edition, he ranked third in West Bengal, 13th in India in the weekly qualifier round, 69th in the National Final, and 41st internationally (excluding China) in the Global Final. He has additionally been recognised in hackathons hosted by Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Codingal, BIT Mesra, IIT Roorkee, and Tata Consultancy Services, and became a TCS SDG Ambassador after completing all 17 levels of the Mission SDG Early Bird Contest, an initiative of TCS and the Mumbai Zoo.
Abhiraj has also built a long track record in competitive academic Olympiads. In 2025-26, he secured first rank internationally with a perfect score in the Unicus Global Mathematics Olympiad and second rank internationally, again with full marks, in the CREST Mathematics Olympiad final. Across previous years, he has ranked among the top performers internationally in the SOF Cyber Olympiad, SOF Social Studies Olympiad, SOF English Olympiad, Unified Cyber Olympiad, and SOF Mathematics Olympiad, while also topping zonal rankings in the Unified English Olympiad.
His academic record extends to Spell Bee competitions as well, where he placed first in West Bengal and fifth in India at the WIZ Spell Bee National Mega Final. He has also qualified for residential summer enrichment programmes at internationally recognised universities, including the University of California, Purdue University and Johns Hopkins University in the United States, as well as Manipal University in India.
Underlying all of these headline achievements is a much larger body of recognition: more than 600 awards and over 800 certificates collected between 2018 and 2026, spanning painting, drawing, storytelling, poem writing, recitation, coding, quizzes, essay writing, acting, sports, spelling, handwriting, book writing, yoga, rangoli, card making, singing, art and craft, dance, Olympiads, MS PowerPoint and MS Paint competitions, Scouts and Guides, mental mathematics, hackathons, chess and more. This range illustrates a child unusually willing to compete — and succeed — across almost every category a school or competition circuit can offer.
Abhiraj’s recognition has extended well beyond the competition circuit. He has been felicitated by the Honourable Governor of West Bengal, Dr. C. V. Ananda Bose, at Raj Bhavan, Kolkata, and by the former Chief Minister of Goa. Former Union Ministers Ms Smriti Irani and Ms Meenakshi Lekhi have recognised his work, as has Padma Shri awardee Ms Deepa Malik. At the Business Excellence India Awards 2026 in Kolkata, badminton champion Ms Saina Nehwal and actress Ms Ena Saha presented him with the Extraordinary Young Achiever of the Year honour, while Bollywood actress Ms Mugdha Godse and actor Mr Ali Khan have also felicitated him. He has additionally received recognition from the CEOs of BriBooks, Education World, the India Book of Records, and the International Book of Records, from Indigo Airlines and Tata Consultancy Services, from an ISRO Group Director, and from organisations including the Aranya Bangla Foundation and Extraschool Pvt Ltd.
Beyond the headline achievements, Abhiraj’s award cabinet is filled with more than 600 awards and over 800 certificates, gathered between 2018 and 2026 across an unusually wide spread of competitions — from drawing, painting, storytelling and poem writing to yoga, rangoli, card making, campaign design, singing, dance, MS PowerPoint and MS Paint contests, Scouts and Guides activities, mental mathematics, and chess. He has also secured medals in the 600-metre and 4-kilometre Kiddathon runs and attended the Annual Camp of Scouts and Guides at Shantiniketan. Even amid this packed schedule, he has kept close to perfect attendance at school across six of his eight years there.

Despite the scale of his extracurricular record, Abhiraj continues to rank first in his class at Delhi Public School Megacity, Kolkata, and has been recognised by the school’s Director, Mrs. Suman Singh, and Principal, Mrs. Tilottama Mallik, for his achievements over the years. He has also found time for sport, winning medals in both the 600-metre and 4-kilometre Kiddathon runs, and for community activities such as the Annual Camp of Scouts and Guides at Shantiniketan. In Spell Bee competitions, he has progressed from school and inter-school wins to a state-level title in West Bengal and a fifth-place national finish at the WIZ Spell Bee National Mega Final.
