Jamshedpur police have arrested five youths in the Millat Nagar area of Jugsalai on allegations of plotting a murder.
Acting on intelligence received on September 17, a team raided a spot near the Golghar primary school on the SSP’s directions.
Police recovered a country-made pistol with two live cartridges in its magazine, along with 7.65 mm ammunition and a spent cartridge casing.
A case has been registered at Jugsalai police station, and officers are tracing the source of the weapons.
Police have linked the arrests to an August 9 firing complaint and an August 26 rooftop firing incident in Millat Nagar.
The arrests were made in the Millat Nagar area under the Jugsalai police station limits in Jamshedpur.
Police said they acted on intelligence received on September 17 and carried out a raid near the Golghar primary school.
The raid was conducted on the directions of the Senior Superintendent of Police.
A country-made pistol was recovered from the waist of one of the accused, according to police.
The pistol’s magazine held two live cartridges, and police also recovered 7.65 mm ammunition and one spent cartridge casing.
Police allege the group had gathered with weapons and was planning to murder members of a rival family.
A case has been registered at Jugsalai police station under case number 74 of 2026.
Police have linked the case to an earlier complaint filed on August 9 alleging firing and threats to kill.
Investigators are also examining a firing incident reported from a rooftop in Millat Nagar on August 26.
Police said they are now tracing the source of the weapons and the role of any other people in the alleged conspiracy.
The accused are entitled to a fair trial, and the allegations remain to be tested in court.
The Jugsalai area has featured in several police cases involving firearms that have been reported by local media.
