The Pakistan Cricket Board has unveiled a new domestic one-day tournament, the National Champions Cup, as part of its preparations for the 2027 ICC Men’s ODI World Cup.
Seven matches will be played between four teams from August 11 to 18, with all games held at the Multan Cricket Stadium.
The tournament will follow a single round-robin phase followed by a final, with the four sides named Pakistan Gold, Pakistan Greens, Pakistan Whites and Pakistan Blues.
Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shadab Khan, Saim Ayub and Sahibzada Farhan will captain the four teams, which have been selected by the national selection committee.
The competition is intended to help gauge the depth of one-day talent in the country ahead of the World Cup.
It forms part of a broader revamp of Pakistan’s domestic cricket calendar for the 2026-27 season, which also includes an expansion of regional teams and changes to the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.
