Kashi, October 3 – On the occasion of Vijaya Dashami, emerging poet and researcher Sudip Chandra Halder organized a food distribution program in Kashi, reaching out to marginalized and underprivileged communities in the spirit of festive solidarity.

More than 200 individuals were served freshly prepared meals as part of the initiative, which sought to bridge social disparities through direct community engagement.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. Babita Berberia, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law, Banaras Hindu University (BHU). Highlighting the importance of social equity, Dr. Berberia stated, “In a just society, access to basic necessities must go beyond divisions of caste, creed, or class. On a day like Vijaya Dashami, such efforts are vital to ensure that no one is left behind.”

Addressing the gathering, Sudip Chandra Halder underscored the moral imperative of feeding the hungry. “Dignity begins with access to food. Without addressing hunger, conversations around ethics and spirituality lose their meaning. As Swami Vivekananda rightly said—what use is religion if you cannot feed the hungry?” he said.

Referring to the symbolic significance of the festival, Halder added, “As we celebrate the victory of truth and righteousness, let us also ensure that no one around us suffers from hunger. Serving the needy is as sacred as chanting mantras—it is an act of worship.”

The event saw active participation from several volunteers and supporters, including Urbi Dubey, Srishti Yadav, Dipanjana Choudhury, Yashvardhan Shukla, Vyom Shukla, Satyam Raj Kashyap, Shibu Kalai, and Arvind Yadav, a police constable from Lanka Police Station. Many students from BHU also joined the initiative.

The program concluded with Halder extending warm Vijaya Dashami greetings and calling for more such community-driven efforts to uplift the underprivileged.
